This dill pickle hummus takes the classic flavor and texture of hummus and gives it a big kick of flavor with the addition of garlic dill pickles. It adds a bold kick of flavor to the hummus, making it absolutely irresistible. It's going to be your new favorite hummus flavor!

This dill pickle hummus recipe is SO good, ya’ll! When I first told my daughter we were making it, she was like, "No way!" Well…once we made it, she was begging for more and asking for all the things she could dip in it! It’s truly so good, and you can use cucumbers, crackers, sweet peppers, carrots, celery, the list is endless!
Just like our kimchi pickle hummus, this recipe uses Cleveland Kitchen pickles. This time around, we used their Dilly Garlic Pickles for a big, bold punch of flavor. We love them because their flavor is so delicious, and they don't have any added sugars - just a touch of turmeric to keep them fresh and some fermented vinegar.
These pickles even come with a stash of garlic at the bottom, which we used for the hummus as well. It's a delicious, healthy snack that's perfect for anyone and any occasion. Pro tip: Dip our air fryer sweet potato wedges in it for a major flavor burst.

Ingredients
- Chickpeas - Garbanzo Beans: Chickpeas give the hummus that classic earthy flavor on which everything else in the recipe is built.
- Tahini: Tahini adds that nutty flavor that all good hummus has.
- Cleveland Kitchen Dilly Garlic Pickles: We used chopped dill pickles, some of the juice, and some of the garlic in these pickles to give the hummus a bold flavor with a punch of dill and a nice, aromatic bite.
- Olive Oil: Olive oil gives the hummus the perfect texture.
See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact amounts.
Flavor Variations
- Tahini: Tahini is essential to traditional hummus recipes. However, if you can't eat it for some reason or don't like it, you could use sunflower or almond butter for a somewhat close approximation.
- Olive Oil: Again, olive oil is essential to good hummus. However, in a pinch, you could use avocado or sunflower oil. Any high-quality oil with a rich flavor could work.
- Spicy: Add red pepper flakes or cayenne for a spicy kick to the hummus.
- Subdued Pickle Flavor: For a more subtle pickle flavor, use lemon juice in place of half the pickle brine.

Instructions
- Boil the chickpeas for a few minutes to make them softer and easier to blend.
- Add all the hummus ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Add the hummus to a bowl and sprinkle it with more diced pickles. Drizzle with olive oil and enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Don't worry about overblending your hummus. You can't do it! Really pulse it to ensure it's nicely blended and super smooth.
- Thoroughly rinse your chickpeas before using them. Their juice is extremely starchy and salty, both of which will adversely affect your hummus.
- If your hummus is too thick, add a little olive oil and blend again. Not too much! You can always add more, but you can't take it out.
- Cleveland Kitchen Dilly Garlic pickles are available in grocery stores and big box stores nationwide. You won't have a problem finding them.
Pairing Suggestions
This hummus makes the perfect dip for crackers, pita chips, vegetables, pretzel sticks, pita bread, or potato chips.
We also highly recommend adding it to avocado toast or using it as a spread on your favorite sandwiches.

Dill Pickle Hummus
Equipment
Ingredients
Instructions
- Drain and thoroughly rinse the chickpeas.
- Boil the chickpeas for 3 minutes. Then drain them.
- Add all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until creamy.
- If the hummus is too thick, add a bit more olive oil to thin it out.
- Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle with more diced pickles and a drizzle of olive oil.
Notes
- Refrigerate leftovers for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
- Freeze the hummus for up to 4 months in an airtight, freezer-safe container.
- Defrost the hummus overnight in the fridge.
- Thoroughly rinse your chickpeas until the water runs clear before using them. Otherwise, your hummus will be way too salty and have an odd, starchy flavor.
- To ensure your hummus is fully blended, you can scrape down the sides of your food processor with a rubber spatula and blend it again.
- When adjusting your hummus thickness, go very light on the olive oil. Only add about ⅛ teaspoon at a time and blend to assess its thickness. Remember, you can always add more, but you can never take it out!
